Privacy Policy
Effective October 2, 2026
The short version: Aerodex has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and I don't run a server that stores your data. Your photos and sightings stay on your device and in your own iCloud account. The only thing the app sends to an outside service is an aircraft registration you enter, so it can look up the airline and model.
This policy explains how the Aerodex app for iPhone (“Aerodex”, “the app”) handles information. Aerodex is made by Kayden Wang (“I”, “me”). If you have a question, email theflightforge@gmail.com.
Information I collect
None. I don't collect, receive or store any personal information about you. Aerodex has no sign-up, no analytics or crash-reporting tools, no advertising, and does not track you across apps or websites.
Information stored on your device and in iCloud
Aerodex keeps what you log so you can see your collection:
- Copies of the photos you add, including any metadata they carry (such as the date and place they were taken).
- The details you enter for each aircraft: airline, model, manufacturer, country, registration, airport and dates.
This data is stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on, Apple syncs it to the private iCloud database of your Apple Account so it's available on your other devices. Only you can access that database; I can't see it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Aerodex also keeps a small counter of how many free registration autofills you've used. It's stored on your device and in iCloud key-value storage, so the count is the same on all your devices.
Photos and location
Aerodex asks for access to your photo library so you can choose photos to add. It only reads the photos you pick.
If a photo includes the location where it was taken, Aerodex uses it on your device to suggest the nearest airport, from an airport list built into the app. That location is never sent anywhere. Aerodex doesn't ask for or use your device's current location.
Registration autofill
When you enter an aircraft registration (for example, N12345) and autofill is available, Aerodex sends that registration to adsbdb.com, a public aircraft database, to look up the aircraft's airline and model. Only the registration is sent. It isn't linked to you or to your other data. As with any request over the internet, adsbdb's servers can see your device's IP address.
Purchases
Aerodex Pro subscriptions are bought through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; I never see your payment details or Apple Account information. The app checks with the App Store on your device to find out whether Pro is active.
Maps
The map in Aerodex is provided by Apple Maps. Showing the map requests map tiles from Apple, which is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Your sightings aren't sent to Apple Maps.
Sharing your data
I don't sell, rent or share your information, because I don't have it. If you use Export Data in the app, a backup file is created and you decide where it goes.
Deleting your data
- In Aerodex, go to Settings › Delete All Photos & Planes to remove everything you've logged. This also deletes it from iCloud.
- Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device, but a synced copy stays in your iCloud account. To remove it too, reinstall Aerodex and use Delete All Photos & Planes.
Children
Aerodex is suitable for all ages and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
